The Creativity and Children section of the bagua is located in the middle right of your home looking at it from the middle front. It is between Helpful People and Travel and Relationship/Love and Marriage area. The element is metal the color is white the shape is round. Metal = mental and mental = activity. This is the place for the exercise equipment, stereos, televisions and computers you moved out of the bedroom after reading the Easy Feng Shui articles on Relationship. This is not the place for candles because fire melts metal in the destructive cycle. It is the place for representations of earth because earth makes metal. Square objects, yellow and earth tones. We must have activity.
Activity in daily life is work, study, exercise, creativity. I want to focus on creativity as an important aspect of a healthy life. Creativity is bringing forth from within you your Divine nature. It is allowing your self to express something no other person on the planet has ever expressed. Your creativity is sacrosanct meaning it is yours and yours alone no matter how many other people seemingly do what you do.Say you are a watercolor artist. There are lots of them in the world but no one paints like you because no one sees like you, no one feels like you and no one communicates it like you. When you are painting or cooking or caring for your children you are expressing your Divinity and it flows through you into the world and becomes more of itself. Michael Bernard Beckwith says that "Our purpose as human beings is to reveal the face of Divinity". Creativity is one brilliant way in which to fulfill that purpose.
Creativity is the movement of Chi or life energy. In Feng Shui we use our creativity to enhance or cure situations. To me Intuitive Feng Shui is using what you have and what you love to empower your life. You can successfully practice Feng Shui and not have a single bamboo flute or bagua shaped mirror anywhere. For example purple is the color of the prosperity area. You can paint the ceiling purple, place a purple candle there, place a violet plant there or put a piece of purple construction paper behind a piece of furniture completely out of sight and all of them will enhance prosperity if you intend them to. The practice of Feng Shui is so much fun because it is so creative.
What makes your heart sing? What do you absolutely love to do? What do you do that you can simply get lost in? You can use the Creativity and Children area to get your creative juices flowing. This is the area to focus on creative expression. Start writing affirmations about your creativity. Create a vision board around it and hang it in there (see previous article on Vision Boards). Maybe you want to make a living using your creativity or maybe you just want to make time to be creative, to create a sacred "space" in which to focus on creating, a block of time where you won't be disturbed. This area is your tabla raza, your blank slate.
Having children is the highest form of creativity. If you have or want children place your affirmations about being a parent here. Parenting forces you to be creative and if you think about it your children are an incredible example of creativity. They are fantastic because they have no qualms about expressing it. They can draw a blue dog or be on a grand adventure as they play. Their imaginations have no limits. We should follow their example and let go of our beliefs that limit our creativity.
